Intergalactic Bath Bomb Review

Welcome to the first review to be featured in my ‘Lush Reviews‘ category! The Intergalactic bath bomb was truly like a trip to space and I am so excited to tell you how amazing it was. If you read my February Favourites 2017 post you would have heard a little about how much I loved this bath bomb. Keep reading for an in-depth review complete with images for you. Thought I should also mention none of the pictures are mine and they were sourced on Google Images. First up, a quick snapshot of the product with information from Lush’s Website;

Cost & Weight – the bath bomb costs AU $8.95 and weighs 225 grams.

Shape & Colour – in a traditional sphere shape, the bath bomb is blue with pink, white and yellow stripes swirled around it giving a marble-like effect.

Before you satisfyingly chuck the ball into your bath

Ingredients – Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Popping Candy, Perfume, Cream of Tartar, Water (Aqua), Peppermint Oil, Grapefruit Oil, Vetivert Oil, Cedarwood Oil, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Limonene, Linalool, Snowflake, Lemon Ice and Gold Glimmer Lustre, Colour 42090 and Colour 45410

Scent – peppermint, cedar wood (sweet and woody) and vetivert (grassy and earthy).

Colour When Used – after the colours have swirled around and fully dissolved, the bath water settles into a midnight blue colour with fine gold glitter.

Mood Set – enticing then relaxing.

In the process of dissolving into a galaxy

Here’s how lush advertises the bath bomb;

“Ever wondered what bathing in deep space would be like? Invite the cosmos into your bathroom with this sexy, interstellar bomb and become the guardian of your own galaxy. An awesome mix of refreshing peppermint and neon colour sends your mood rocketing, while popping candy takes you on a trip around the Milky Way. Constellations swirl and pop, creating vibrant lustre vortexes in the night sky. Before you leap too far, rogue layers of vetivert and cedar wood take hold, evoking the warmth of human contact far from home and a hint of 80s aftershave. Return from your intergalactic brief encounter as the grounding scent brings you gently back from orbit.”

I personally loved this bath bomb solely because of the colours and gold glitter. I felt like I was floating in space when the water turned midnight blue and glimpses of gold glitter could be seen shining in the light. The smell was pleasant but I didn’t pick up the notes of mint and sweet wood like the lush website advertised. Instead, the scent wasn’t really standout or unique but much like other bath bombs or just generally how the store smells.

Pros of this product include the colours (in the sphere and the end result) as well as the beautiful glittery surprise.

A con is that the scent isn’t anything special and quite low-key compared to other products although it is relaxing and does set the mood. Another con is the cleanup and your entire bath being covered in gold glitter. Luckily, after a wipe down and rinse with cold water, most of the glitter easily comes off. Still all completely worth the interstellar experience.

After being fully dissolved and left in a galaxy of glitter.

Overall, I just loved how I wasn’t expecting the bath bomb to do what it did. It was unique and significantly different to their other bath products meaning I will remember it. I’m all for Lush’s little surprises and can’t wait for many more to come.

Rating – 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 , the scent could have been better (I personally like sweet scents so this could be why I was underwhelmed).

I hope you enjoyed this kick start to my ‘Lush Reviews‘ category and are looking forward to reading more posts similar to this one.

Introduction to Lush Reviews

Having loved lush products for years, I thought it would be great to share all my thoughts here for you. Whether you are new to the Lush craze or want to see how a product worked for me, you can find it in the latest edition to my blog, the ‘Lush Reviews’ category. I hope you’re as excited for this as I am!

Lush is a cosmetics brand known for fighting animal testing and being completely cruelty-free, using natural ingredients that are good for us and harvested for the good of the community and being completely vegetarian (80% vegan). Their unique, all-natural handmade cosmetics and strong beliefs have been widely popular and appealed to many.

Lush sells a wide range of products including their famous bath bombs and bubble bars as well as soaps, face masks, perfumes, lotions, makeup and hair treatments. Below I will describe some of their well known but very unique products that intrigued me.

Bath Bombs – Lush’s bath bombs are unlike any other. Their unique scents and exploding colours of fun will immediately get you hooked and collecting them all. Most of them feature a sphere shape which you basically pop into your bath and watch dissolve into a magically scented, bathing wonderland.

“Settle in for a good soak with an original Lush invention, exploding with essential oils and tons of fizzy fun. Whether you’re after a relaxing, petal-laden floral soak or an invigorating multilayered explosion of color and scent, there’s a bath bomb perfect for every bathing experience.”

Bubble Bars – Another unique Lush invention which I haven’t actually seen sold anywhere else. Unlike bath bombs, bubble bars are soft and can be crumbled or held under running water to produce deliciously scented bubbles. These can also be used multiple times which make them much more worth your $$$ but I personally love using them with a bath bomb.

“Frothy and fragrant bubbles are at your fingertips with our bubble bars. Crumble one of these self-preserving bars under running water to reveal heaps of bubbles for a luxurious, inviting bath.”

Lip Scrubs – Lip scrubs are another product that I believe Lush invented or at least started the trend for. Even though you can buy lip scrubs at multiple shops, Lush’s are truly one of kind. Available in Bubblegum, Mint Julips, Popcorn and Chocolate, all the lip scrubs are edible so you can lick them off your lips to reveal a silky smooth pout.

“We like to keep our lips perfectly soft at all times; you never know when you might need to pucker up. Keep your kisser ready and protected from the elements with our selection of delectable, rich lip balms and tints, and sweet lip scrubs.”
Shower Jellies – Definetly Lush’s most unique product as I had never even heard of these before discovering one in store. Shower Jellies are basically a blob of jelly that foams with water and smells amazing. You rub the blob all over your body and it works just like a body wash, only wobblier!
“Who says getting clean can’t be loads of fun? Our wobbly shower jellies make washing up one of the best parts of your day. We make them with a seriously softening seaweed gel base to gently cleanse and nourish your skin. Fruity extracts, essential oils and vitamin-rich juices leave you smelling delicious, too.”

Fun – As oddly amazing as shower jellies, fun is soap in the form of play dough! Fun works as a body wash, bubble bath, shampoo or even a clothing stain remover. They smell amazing and you can make figurines as you get squeaky clean. What’s not to love?

“Treat your inner child (and your kids) to some fun. This multipurpose bar is a soap, shampoo, bubble bath and toy, all in one colorful, sweetly-scented package.”

As you now know, Lush offers an extensive range of unique products you will immediately fall in love with. Some of their other products include face masks, creamy liquid body wash, soaps which smell amazing and some even double as exfoliators, containing oats and other good bits. I highly recommend trying out their products, especially because of how good they are for your skin as they are all natural and because of their clear views on how wrong animal testing is. Just follow the amazing sweet scent and you’ll find their store in any shopping centre!

P.S First Lush bath bomb review coming very, very soon!

February Favourites 2017

So February has come to an end and it honestly flew past me this year. Sorry this post is also really late, I feel like I have no time for anything anymore 😦 Anyway, sadly February mainly consisted of getting back into the swing of school and I haven’t really done anything that interesting. We did celebrate my brother’s birthday and I’ve had quite a few functions on the weekends which you’ve got to love dressing up for 🙂 Keep on reading to see my Top 5 Favourites of February.

  1. Lush Intergalactic Bath Bomb – Being totally in love with lush, I am always eager to try new products and the intergalactic bath bomb amazed me. I especially like their bath bombs that seem completely different i.e don’t have a similar smell, colour or effect of any other bath bomb. The intergalactic bath bomb was really unique and with my favourite colour being blue, the midnight blue this product made my bath water was beautiful. I also really liked the fine gold glitter that much to my surprise, came out of this bath bomb. It was an absolute pain to clean but completely worth it 🙂 Hopefully I can post a more in-depth review of this bath bomb for you soon!
  2. Daily Planner – After seeing to do lists in my January favourites, you could probably guess that I’m an organisation freak. With school in full motion and assessments popping up everywhere, my daily planner has really gotten a workout. I write everything in it and am always looking over it, seeing what’s on for the rest of the week and what I can satisfyingly scribble off as completed.
  3. L’oreal True Match FoundationThis month I have surprisingly been reaching for this drugstore foundation much more than my Urban Decay one. Not only is it very affordable, it is easily blendable because of the smooth texture and doesn’t leave my skin looking cakey. I am in the shade 3.D/3.W Golden Beige and I couldn’t be happier with how the colour matches my skin tone. I also noticed recently that my particular shade has fine gold glitter in it which give an amazing glowing complexion but can look a bit odd in the daytime! Lastly, even though it’s not advertised I did notice the back of the bottle states it is SPF 17. SPF is always an amazing addition to any foundation as it protects your skin from the harsh UV rays which aren’t only present in summer.
  4. Spotify App – With school back on, my daily bus trips have resumed and I am always in need of some entertainment. Spotify allows you to stream music with wi-fi for free. It is completely legal and not dodgy like so many other music streaming apps I have come across. Although you do need to be using your 4G with the app, if you’d prefer you can upgrade to premium which allows you to stream without wi-fi and eliminates adds. I haven’t tried this as you have to pay for it but hopefully will soon.
  5. Converse ‘Dainty’ White Low Top Sneakers – I haven’t gone anywhere on the weekends without these Converse sneakers on my feet. I have been wanting these for so long as they are such a classic sneaker that can be pulled off with any outfit. At first I was disappointed as I got blisters on the backs of my feet but after the first wear they were fine. They probably just needed to be broken in for a day.

Thanks for reading my February Top 5 Favourites and apologies again for the very late upload. I’ll make sure the March one is here on time! Love you all and I hope starting school hasn’t been too stressful.
