Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly Review

Yet another Lush Review for you and be prepared, this might just be one of my all time favourite Lush products. Being absolutely exclusive to Lush, shower jellies are so different to any other soaps and are so much fun to use. I’m sad to say I think the Sweetie Pie shower jelly (my hands down favourite) is either a Christmas special or discontinued 😦 I’ve had mine for a while and only managed to find it on the US website, not the Australian one. Don’t worry though, the AU website still had all the other shower jelly scents including Whoosh, Refresher and Needles and Pines. Anyway, here’s the information from Lush’s US Website;

Cost & Weight – AU $7.95 for a pot of 100 grams.

Ingredients – Glycerine, Water (Aqua), Cherry Infusion (Prunus cerasus), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Coconut Infusion (Cocos nucifera), Propylene Glycol, Carrageenan Extract (Chondrus crispus), Fragrance, Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium bergamia), Cassis Absolute (Ribes nigrum),Cypress Oil (Cupressus sempervirens), Limonene,*Linalool, Snowflake Lustre (Potassium Silicate & Titanium Dioxide), FD&C Blue No. 1, D&C Red No. 33, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

Scent – according to lush, cherries and coconut but to me, apple blackcurrant lollies 🙂

Here’s how lush advertises the shower jelly;

“Our sweetest shower jelly is also our best-seller! Between the fruity fragrance, the iridescent glitter that leaves a sparkle on your skin, and the seaweed base that leaves your skin softened and refreshed, it’s irresistible. And while we know our blackcurrant and sour cherry wobbler smells good enough to eat, we recommend you curb your cravings and hop in the shower and wash with Sweetie Pie instead. Smooth it all over your body (and your hair too!) for a sweet yet sophisticated cleansing experience.”

As you already know, I am a sucker for Lush’s sickly sweet scents and this shower jelly is a perfect example. Let’s be real, it’s foaming jelly that you can wash your body and hair with. What’s not to love? I used it yesterday and it has left the most amazing subtly sweet smell on my skin. I have heard people say to cut or break off chunks of the jelly to the squish into a loofah for more bubbles but I can’t bring myself to ruin the lump of jelly that fits perfectly in the pot. I just picked it all up and used it like that and found that it still lathered up perfectly well 🙂 My only problem is that little bits did end up crumbling off and I feel like that’s a bit of a waste but I guess it’s my fault for not breaking it up into little portions.

Pros of this product include the unique experience of trying such an odd but amazing product and the smell range as the other scents are also very unique and specialise in different things.

A con is that the product is a bit gimmicky and any old shower gel will probably be more effective but I still love it and using it is kind of a treat. As mentioned above, it crumbled a bit but next time I might just use a small chunk and see if it’s any better.

Overall, the whole concept of shower jelly paired with Lush’s signature sweet, candy inspired scent really does it for me and that’s why this is one of my all time favourite Lush products.

I don’t think shower jelly would be as fun to use every day as the novelty would wear off but I tend to use it when I have baths and it’s just as exciting as the first time I opened the tub and smelt it 🙂

Rating – 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 , could you expect any less? This product is amazing and if it really is not available anymore I will be devastated.

I hope you enjoyed this Lush Review and will give shower jelly a shot. I’ll make sure to find out if this is discontinued or not next time I visit Lush so fingers crossed. Love you all and my June favourites will be up soon 🙂
